Hiring: Administrative Assistant Company: Bakersfield City School District Location: Bakersfield, CA Job Posted Time: 2026-09-03 11:35:28 Employment Type: Full-time Target Skills & Keywords : Assembly About the job Experience: •Two (2) Letters of recommendation (dated within 1 year) Required Skills: •Performs complex and responsible secretarial duties to ensure successful coordination, processing, and completion of routine administrative operations for Superintendent and Board of Education •Prepares and/or coordinates preparation and distribution of public agendas for Board of Education meetings; organizes and oversees set-up of Board Room and other meeting accommodations •Attends and serves as recorder at Board of Education meetings; takes notes and prepares official minutes for appropriate review and distribution; obtains Board member signatures on documents as needed •Supervises assigned secretarial/clerical staff; assigns and monitors work, oversees workload and workflow, and evaluates quality and production •Receives and transcribes dictation; composes routine correspondence independently; prepares reports, correspondence, minutes, policies, memos, forms, resolutions and other documents from dictation notes, rough drafts or verbal instructions •Coordinates variety of district administrative meetings; arranges schedules and facilities; takes notes and prepares summaries; prepares and distributes agendas, information and minutes •Maintains detailed calendar for Superintendent and members of Board of Education; arranges interviews, appointments and schedules as required •Schedules and arranges district travel for Superintendent and members of Board of Education Qualifications: •Knowledge of office practices and procedures, preferably specific knowledge of district policies, procedures and operations related to Superintendent's office and Board of Education •Demonstrated capacity to operate office equipment and machines including but not limited to typewriter, computer, miscellaneous software, transcription equipment, copiers and calculator •Demonstrated capacity to organize, write and prepare reports, letters, surveys and legal documents of professional quality; ability to accurately perform mathematical computations and prepare statistical documentation; ability to proficiently take and transcribe dictation, notes and minutes •Demonstrated capacity to use independent judgment in analyzing situations and making decisions within scope of authority •Knowledge of basic principles and practices of supervision; ability to train, supervise and evaluate work of others including planning, organizing and prioritizing work •Possession of valid driver's license and personal car for use on district business •Demonstrated capacity to effectively communicate orally and in written form •Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in performance of duties •To perform variety of highly responsible and confidential secretarial and administrative support services for Superintendent and Board of Education •An online application and any documents listed below must be submitted by 8:00 p.m. on Compensation: •$105,417 - $129,305 / year Interested candidates, please apply directly through the job posting on company's career page or try via AI auto apply on this platform.
